SAS » Economy Extra (Premium Economy)

Scandinavian Airlines introduced Economy Extra in 2002 on all long-haul routes. Compared to Economy class, Economy Extra passengers enjoy wider (47cm/18"), more comfortable seats with almost a metre (38") of legroom in a separate cabin. Customers can check in at Business class counters and are eligible for Fast Track security (where available), as well as priority boarding. Passengers are also entitled to greater baggage allowance, both for check-in and an additional piece of hand luggage to take onboard.

Onboard, Economy Extra passengers receive a pre-departure drink; a cocktail and snack; a three-course dinner and coffee/tea with liqueurs; drinks, fruit and cold snacks between meals; and a meal prior to landing. All Economy Extra passengers also receive a comfort kit and a personal water bottle.

Economy Extra seats are in a 2-3-2 configuration. The seats have manually adjustable neck rests, and foot rests. Boarding is at the business class counter, there is Fast Track at security and increased baggage allowance including one additional piece of hand luggage to take onboard. All seats are equipped with a 6.4” personal screen AVOD and have laptop power.

Economy Extra tickets are available in two fare types: Fully Flexible and Fixed. SAS’ Fully Flexible fares offer passengers tickets with no restrictions. Rebooking and refunds are free, and there is no minimum stay rule. SAS’ new Fixed tickets offer the lowest fares and rewards early bookings in all three classes. The fare does not allow for changes or refunds, and requires a minimum stay of five days. SAS also offers full service class combinability, making it possible to travel Economy Extra one way and Business or Economy the other, for example.
