Qatar Airways now has two A319-100LR (long range) aircraft, configured in two classes (economy and first), flying routes between the Middle East, northern and western Africa, and Europe. As seen here, the aircraft carries a total of 110 passengers, with 102 economy class seats in a 3-3 configuration (A,B,C - D,E,F) and eight first class passengers (A,B - D,F). The aircraft comfortably makes a seven hour range to take passengers as far as Stockholm and Berlin.
Qatar Airways refers to this aircraft internally as a 'route launcher', because it allows it to test new markets with a relatively small number of seats. Once the market is established, the single-aisle aircraft is replaced with a wide-bodied aircraft with more seats.
