Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways (airline code QR) is the national carrier of Qatar, founded in 1993. It is one of the world's fastest-growing airlines, driven by the wealth of the natural gas-rich state of Qatar. It will open the $2.5 billion New Doha International Airport in 2009, at the same time as it receives its first Airbus A380 double-decker aircraft.

Ownership

Qatar Airways is jointly owned by the Government of the State of Qatar (50 per cent) and private shareholders (50 per cent).
