Qantas has several types of business class seating. The Skybed has now largely replaced the Dreamtime seat and is now on all international flights. In addition the Skybed has two different incarnations, with the new Skybed being lie-flat, while the old one (pictured) is slightly sloping.

The Skybed seat was designed by Australian industrial designer Marc Newson and developed by USA based BE Aerospace. Skybed features include:

  • A fixed cocoon-style design to provide maximum security.

  • Privacy screens between seats.

  • Extensive range of seat adjustments, offering passengers outstanding comfort in every position.

  • Built-in back massager.

  • A large 10.4-inch screen with multi-channel entertainment.

  • AC power outlet that allows laptops direct access, without the need for adaptor cables.

  • Inflight Short Message System (SMS) with reply capability.

  • Unlimited complimentary on board telephone access to call other passengers.

  • Clever storage compartments, including a shoe cupboard, glove box for glasses, books and travel documents and a water bottle holder.

  • Noise canceling headsets and amenity kits.

Seat pitch varies according to aircraft. On the Airbus A330, configuration is 2-2-2 and pitch 61 inches with a 20.3-inch width. The seat extends to 78.5 inches and has an eight degree angle.

On the A380, the bed is fully flat and extends to 80 inches. Width is 20.5 inches.

The 747 is configured 2-3-2 in business, with a 60-inch pitch extending to 78.5 inches. The seat extends fully flat. The 767 is configured 1-2-2 and offers a pitch of up to 50 inches with a 10-degree angle of recline.

Business lounge at SYD was large, comfortable and offered a good selection of food (both hot and cold) and beverages. Business lounge in BKK was reasonably sized with a good selection of food and beverages. The shower... more

I have flown business class on QF's Australia - US route many times with Qantas. The product is reliable time and time again with comfortable, private seats, high quality food, and excellent, up to date in flight entertainment. Whist the cabin crew are friendly enough, they always seem to be in a hurry and thud up and down the aisles - it is quite annoying and it... more
