Malev Hungarian Airlines (airline code MA) was the national carrier of Hungary, founded in 1946 (as the Hungarian-Soviet Civil Air Transport Joint Stock Company).

The airline ceased operations on February 3, 2012 at 0600 due to financial difficulties.

Ownership

In 2007, the Hungarian State Privatisation and Holding Company (APV) sold its 99.5% stake in Malev to AirBridge, a company 51% owned by two Hungarian investors and controlled by the Russian airline magnate Boris Abramovich. Airbridge also aquired an additional 0.45% of Malev from small shareholders.
