Emirates (airline code EK) is a Dubai-based airline founded in 1985.
Ownership
Emirates Airlines is a subsidiary of the Emirates Group, and is wholly-owned by the government of Dubai. It is one of the world's fastest-growing airlines.
Route Network
Emirates' hub is at Dubai International airport (airport code DXB), but it will have a bigger base at the nearby Al Maktoum International airport (airport code DWC) when it is fully operational.
It is envisaged that DWC, with five runways, will eventually replace Atlanta as the world's busiest airport, as its capacity will be up to 160 million passengers a year.
