China Airlines

China Airlines (airline code CI) is a full-service carrier based at Taipei's Taoyuan airport in Taiwan. It was set up in 1959 and has a fleet of almost 50 passenger jets. In 2008 it began offering scheduled services to mainland China after a thawing of relations between the two governments.

Ownership

China Airlines was listed as a private company on the Taiwan Stock Exchange in 1993. China Airlines is entirely separate from Air China, which is majority-owned by the Peoples' Republic of China.

Route Network

Update March 9 2010: China Airlines is to launch a new service between London Heathrow and Taipei Taoyuan Airport. The airline said that come March 28, it will be the only carrier to offer non-stop flights between the two cities. For more on this follow links to BusinessTraveller.com below.

China Airlines has an extensive network of routes throughout Asia among the 26 countries it flies to. It also offers many non-stop long-haul services including Amsterdam and Frankfurt. It is planned that the carrier will join the Skyteam alliance. For a full list of destinations, click here
