Not too much differences comparing other similar airline options. Space for sleeping will always be a karma if companies don't think about it in a proactive way. Don't forget to avoid window seats free of the metal box in your foot space!

NEVER FLY ALITALIA!!! IT WAS THE WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
They turned a ten hour flight into a twenty-five hour nightmare. They bumped us off our direct flight, and gave us instructions in Roma about how to connect in Toronto. Then, in Toronto, they gave us different directions, which made us miss our connecting flight. They lost our baggage, gave us a $300 voucher. They will not take responsibility. We can not talk to them directly---we only can email them, and GUESS WHAT? they don't respond. They owe us much more than $300 off Alitalia fare, because we WILL NEVER TAKE ALITALIA AGAIN!
Most unfriendly and lousy airline that I have ever traveled in. Flew from Rome to Toronto on 14th May
SERVICE - MOST RUDEST FLIGHT ATTENDANTS. They do not respond to any individual calls. You have to get up and walk to the front or to the back of the airplane if you need water, and serve yourself. I travelled with an infant, when I asked for some milk, one Attendant bluntly said no. But another attendant was good enough to accept the bottle and asked for my seat no. However, most of them are grumpy and look annoyed.
Entertainment - No personal entertainment, No power, No USB. There are TVs at the center which plays some videos. Most of those TVs are not functioning properly, some screens are in mono color.
Transport to Airplane - In crowded buses. So unorganized that passengers were asked to stay inside the bus for a long time after the bus had reached the plane.
NOT RECOMMENDED, CHEAP DEALS THAT YOU WOULD REGRET FOR TAKING.
It was not a flight it was a nightmare.
I choose Alitalia because is the only no-stop flight Rome-Miami but never again!
Very old aircraft (B767-400 they call it 764). Very bad seats, no space for legs, books and everything, no service at all (lunch after one hour and goodbye) very noisy cabin (expecially for the underground volume of the shared tv) no personal tv, very bad choice of movies.
Open bar during flight: cold water and cold Pepsi light (what have we done so bad.....')
This airline has no respect for its passengers, filed a complaint regarding terrible service received in the Airport and on board. never got a reply! shame on you Alitalia! will never fly with you again!

I was an Alitalia passenger many times. Economy class The seating was bad, not enough space and the food miserable. If you the airline does not want to pay for it, they should simply not serve the sandwitches they serve. Simply discusting. They should try hard but at least the cabin crew is not always so bad.
I would avoid flying Alitalia if at all possible. We flew from JFK to Rome and from Milan to JFK. Both B777s were too warm throughout the flights, with no individual air vents (something I have not seen before).
We were packed in like sardines, nine across, and the front-to-back space was minimal. In both directions, the passengers in front of us kept their seats fully back for most of the flight. When my husband on the Rome flight politely asked the woman in front of him if she would move her seat up an inch so that he could move his knees, she refused.
At meal time, he asked the flight attendant to request she put her seat up, which she did reluctantly only for the duration of the meal. We are both average sized people. I have no idea how bigger or heavier people could survive an eight hour flight like this.
We flew an Aer Lingus Airbus last year with eight across that seemed positively luxury class compared to this.
On the flight to Rome (609), neither of us had working audio or video. Although both video and audio worked on the return flight (604), the tiny space made viewing uncomfortable and I gave up.
