Despite being a mainly economy class carrier, Air Berlin does offer a premium section in its wide-bodied Airbus A330 aircraft that have been absorbed into the fleet following several acquisitions.

Air Berlin offers an older-style business class seat with a 54-inch (137cm) pitch that is 19 inches (49cm) wide and reclines to 150 degrees. The leather seats have personal video screens offering the same films as economy plus six extra titles.

Extras include a choice of main courses and a welcome drink plus a selection of six wines. On flights to Bangkok, there is a free limo service from the airport, while business customers can use VIP lounges at 17 international airports.

Business class passengers can check in two bags up to 32 kg each on all routes. A priority label is attached to baggage, which means it will be unloaded first on arrival.

Note: Since Etihad became the major stake holder in Air Berlin that Air Berlin has begun to adopt Etihad's business class seating. This will be gradually fitted to the Air Berlin fleet, starting with the A330-200.

These aircraft have 19 fully flat business class seats with direct aisle access. Seats have a massage function and 15-inch TVs with 200 hours of entertainment. They also have a USB port.

But decided to give it a go. Booking was fine, unable to change seat number on line but as I had an aisle seat in row 1 I was happy. There is a chauffeur drive in Abu Dhabi care of... more

This is the first time I have taken a long haul flight with AB and it was due to schedule driven needs, as I could get to Berlin with less hassle than anywhere else and they have a late flight out to AUH. The experience was like the curate's egg, starting with an arrival, by an AB feeder flight, off stand at the shed know as TXL terminal C, which has a great future as... more
