The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has created a constantly updated table which compares the various fees charged by airlines when booking travel. The new tool can be accessed for free and covers many of the major UK based airlines in an easy to read comparison table.

Information on the cost of taking hold luggage on board, having an in-flight meal and reserving specific seats is all included, as well as a range of other optional charges that airlines may apply.

Transport Secretary Justine Greening said: "I hope this new information from the CAA will help, which is why we are legislating to give the CAA even more powers to ensure transparency for consumers. Ultimately, however, it’s time that airlines were far clearer cut with passengers about these add-on charges in the first place.”
